Cake smash sessions are a fun and memorable way to celebrate your baby’s first birthday. To help you get the most out of your session, here are my top tips for preparing your little one.
1. Choose the Right Time
Pick a time when your baby is usually well-rested and fed. Morning sessions often work best to avoid late-day tiredness.
2. Bring Familiar Items
A favourite toy or blanket can help your baby feel comfortable in the studio. Familiar objects can also be a great distraction between photos. A favourite snack can also be helpful for encouraging your little one to eat the cake.
3. Keep Outfits Simple
Outfits should be cute but practical! A simple romper or nappy cover works perfectly. Don’t forget a change of clothes for after the mess. we have some outfit options in the studio, please discuss with me before your session so I can have them ready for you.
4. Introduce Cake Early
A few days before your session, let your baby taste a bit of cake or frosting. This helps them get used to the texture and flavour, making the smash more enjoyable. Often babies wont be keen on having their hands and face covered in mess. The more practice they get before the session the happier they usually are during their cake smash.
5. Prepare for Mess and Fun
Cake smash sessions are delightfully messy! Make sure you bring a change of clothes and a bag to put dirty clothes in for after your session. I will have wipes, towels, and any extra items you’ll need to clean up after the fun.
